By choosing not to register your business name with "UK Business Registry Limited" you risk another business registering the same name as that which you trade under.

If you copy the name of an existing business, legal action may be taken against you which may result in a court injunction to stop you trading, possible legal costs and even damages. Ultimately it could result in you being forced to close your business and re-start in a new name which does comply with the "Business Names Act 1985" and does not conflict with any other trading business, unnecessary costs such as the reproduction of stationery, packaging and leaflets would also be incurred.
